The African Synergy against AIDS and Sufferings has benefited from the largesse of Microsoft as it would soon be able to expand its activities and reach out to many people as far as possible and conquer new fields through software and technological assistance from Microsoft.
A partnership agreement to this effect was signed at the head office of African Synergy in Yaounde between the President of Microsoft Africa, Cheick Modibo Diara and the Executive Secretary of African Synergy Against AIDS and Suffering, Jean Stepan Biatcha. The partnership that involve computers, software and other material would enable the African Synergy to improve and upgrade its activities in the collection of data, communication, research as well as getting more people involved across the continent.
It would also provide the Synergy with software that would enable researchers exchange information on the prevention and treatment of AIDS with other researchers in other parts of the country. Speaking at during the signing of the partnership agreement, Microsift Africa President, Modibo Diara said Microsoft recognises initiatives that protects and promotes the health of young persons especially people living with AIDS.
He said Microsoft would provide the synergy with information on how to prevent and help people living with the virus, improve, develop and educate local communities on the use of ICTs amongst others. Modibo Diara said they were interested in any program that looks for solutions to problems and African Synergy merited such support and assistance from them.On his part, Biatcha expressed gratitude and said the partnership agreement would go along way to upgrade the activities synergy.
Microsoft Africa it be noted has already translated many of its software into local African languages such as Swahili, Zulu, and Hausa and intends to do so for many other languages so as to ease the use and teaching of ICTs.
In another related development, the President of Microsoft Africa also signed a protocol agreement with the Ministry of Basic Education for the effective integration of information and communication technology training in Cameroon’s educational system.
Signed by the Minister Haman Adama and Modibo Diara, the agreement paves the way for the Ministry to receive support from Microsoft and other partners in the promotion of ICTs training in Cameroonian schools and also to better equip young people especially in this computer age.
