Kumba Paramount Chief intensifies Chiefdom Decentralisation

The people of Kumba in particular and Bafaw ethnic group in general have appreciated the Paramount Ruler of  Kumba and Bafaw  HRH Nfon V.E Mukete III for his wisdom to think of intensifying the level of decentralisation in his Chiefdom.

The population did the appreciation recetly as some thirty four Quater Heads  known in the Bafaw  dialect as Nkume were installed in his palace at Kumba Njembe. While officially commissioning the Quater heads, the Paramount Ruler explained that  those appointed and installed are persons with natural leadership skills who are assigned by the Nfon at his pleasure to  assist him in the proper discharege of  his duties. They should also make sure that they promote goverment policies. He warned them to eschew from  anti-government activities and that those who will take the wrong directives will be relieved of thier duties instantly.

The quarter heads will have as task to promote primary health care, promotion of hygiene and sanitation and to ensure proper function of quater security, neighbourhood watch groups commonly called anti-gangs and suspects should be reported to competent authorities.

The quarter heads were drawn from different quarters and  ethnic groups. From fourteen quaters in the early 70s,the number grew to nineteen and then thirty a few years ago today is thirty four. It was disclosed by the Nfon that five more quaters will be created in not too distant time.
